Robbed first,now trader gets calls for ransom

Dharmesh Deepak Shah (32),a trader who was robbed of Rs 50,000 on Friday,has lodged a complaint at the Swargate police station saying he has been receiving extortion calls from the robbers.

According to his complaint,Shah was robbed by two persons in Sadashiv Peth when he was on the way to his office in Market Yard. The duo came on a motorcycle and intercepted him around 9.30 am on Friday. They beat him and snatched his bag carrying Rs 50,000.

Shah then lodged a complaint of robbery at Vishrambag police station. He has now lodged a complaint that two persons called him on phone and demanded Rs 10 lakh. They threatened him of dire consequences if he fails to give them the money.

The police have launched a search for the duo. Assistant police inspector Krishnaji Indalkar is investigating the case.
