Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has still not set any deadline for sharing results of revaluation a year since the student-centric facility was introduced in February-March 2013 examinations. The State board charges Rs 700 per subject for revaluation of each subject, and with no deadline set for sharing the outcome of revaluation results the whole purpose of the facility has been defeated, it has been alleged. MSBSHSE chairman Gangadhar Mhamane expressed inability to fix a particular time-limit for sharing revaluation results with students. “There cannot be specific deadline as number of applications for revaluation vary. We receive more applications for certain subjects and relatively less for other subjects. As there is unexpected work-load, we cannot work out specific time-frame for sharing revaluation results,” he told Newsline on Saturday. MSBSHSE’s set of conditions regarding revaluation scheme termed it as ‘an additional facility’ made available to students for improving results. “Therefore, the board is not responsible for academic loss of students, if any caused due to any delay in declaring revaluation results,” it reads. Academic experts, who have been pressing for sharing revaluation results within week’s time, have flayed the state board for being non-committal on setting a deadline for revaluation. “The revaluation facility without any deadline could not save academic loss of students. Several HSC students become part of different centralised admission processes after results. A delay of more than a week in sharing revaluation results would be of no use to students, and will prove a sheer loss of money,” RTI activist and career counsellor Vivek Velankar said. He said the State Board suffered from ‘policy deficit’ and was jeopardizing the career of lakhs of students. For revaluation, candidates need to get photocopy of answer-sheet and then go for revaluation within five days of receiving the photocopies. Considering that the Board charges Rs 300 for revaluation of each subject, and Rs 400 for issuing photocopies for each subject, candidates end up paying Rs 700 to get revaluation of a single subject. Around 14 lakh students appear for HSC and 17 lakh for SSC examination ever year. Six lakh students took supplementary examination. MSBSHSE officials said they do not have off-hand information on number of students, who opted for revaluation facility in the last one year.
