Nair,who had visited the site a week ago,said it was high time the authorities capped the dumping site. She said that she would use all her powers to ensure the villagers lead a better life. She said the PMC should not dump any more waste there and speed up the proposals for alternative sites.

The PMC has proposed a number of sites but no formal proposal has reached the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board yet. “How can the authority have just one dumping site? There is a need to have many more” she said.
