Real estate,LIC agents held for duping bank

The Pune police have arrested a real estate agent,an employee of Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) and two accomplices for allegedly cheating the Central Bank of India to the tune of Rs 72 lakh.

The Pune police have arrested a real estate agent,an employee of Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) and two accomplices for allegedly cheating the Central Bank of India to the tune of Rs 72 lakh.

The accused have been identified as Ajit Vitthalrao Kalharpure (36) of Hilltop society,Dhankwadi,Trilok Kadam (46) of Pune Camp,Bipin Jha (46) of Nanak Nivas,Dhankawdi,and Dinesh Kharade (37) of Dhavalgiri Society on Bibwewadi-Kondhwa road.

According to the police,the real estate agent Kalharpure with the help of Kadam,stenographer at the LIC office in Shivajinagar,prepared fake insurance policy documents and submitted it at Jedhe chowk branch of Central Bank of India in November 2007 for a loan of Rs 3 lakh.

The accused further prepared fake insurance documents in the name of 22 persons and submitted it to the Bank. The police said,in all,the accused took a loan of Rs 71,95,000 by submitting fake insurance documents at the bank between November 2007 and September 2008.

Pramod Shriramji Sinha,branch manager of Central Bank of India,had lodged a police complaint. The police have booked the suspects on charges of cheating and forgery.
