Kapil Lohana won the 27th edition of the Every Sunday Rapid Chess Championship.

Kapil Lohana won the 27th edition of the Every Sunday Rapid Chess Championship. The tournament that is conducted every Sunday by the Pune District Chess Association and the Global Mind Sports Foundation featured a total of 32 players,of which 16 were rated.

The event,which comprised seven rounds,saw Lohana come out at the top at the end of it. He beat his nearest rival Gaurav Bakliwal,who had a total of 6 points by a margin of 0.5. Mohit Shenvi finished third with 5.5 points.

Abhimanyu Puranik of Symbiosis School won the under-10 trophy,Atharva Mulay of Modern High School won the under-14 trophy.

Aakanksha Hagawane of DES School won the Best Ladies Trophy and Prakash Karmarkar won the Best Veteran Trophy.

Final placing:1. Kapil Lohana (6.5 points); 2. Gaurav Bakliwal (6 points); 3. Mohit Shenvi (5.5 points); 4. Pushkaraj Bedekar (5 points / 31 Buch); 5. Nikhil Dixit (5 points / 26 Buch).
