The Pune Fire control room received 23 calls of trees falling between 3.30 pm and 7.25 pm. (Photos courtesy Pune Fire Brigade) As many as 23 tree trees fell across Pune city in a span of four hours following rain showers and stormy weather on Thursday.
According to the Pune Fire Brigade, its control room received 23 calls of trees falling between 3.30 pm and 7.25 pm from different parts of the city.
Fire officials said that incident were reported in Sahakar Nagar, Katraj, Sinhagad Road, Pune Satara Road, Model Colony in Shivaji nagar, Kothrud, Karve Nagar, Koregaon Park, Bhavani Peth, Erandwane, F C Road, Tingre Nagar, Pashan Sus Road, Wadgaon Sheri, Senapati Bapat road and Nana Peth area.
Five cars were damaged after a tree fell on them on D P Road in Karve Nagar area. Another two cars were damaged as a result of tress falling on them in Tejas Nagar, Kothrud and near Sevasadan School in Erandwane.
After receiving calls, fire brigade teams were rushed to the respective area and the fallen trees were cleared. No casualties were reported in the incidents, said fire officials.
