(Representational image) Pune City Police have arrested a youngster with possession of mephedrone (MD), a banned drug, worth Rs 1.41 lakh. The accused has been identified as Yash Kundlik Gaikwad (23), a resident of Market Yard area in Pune and a native of Beed district of Maharashtra.
Acting on a tip-off to police constable Vishal Shinde of the anti-narcotics cell, a team headed by inspector Vinayak Gaikwad laid a trap and nabbed Yash near the Gangadham chowk on Wednesday.
Police said he had come to the spot on a two-wheeler to sell drugs. Conducting searches, cops seized 7.05 grams of MD worth Rs 1.41 lakh from him. The cops also seized his two-wheeler and cell phone for further investigation.
A first information report (FIR) in this case was lodged at the Market Yard police station under sections of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, a press release stated on Friday.
The police said a probe is on to know from where he procured the MD and to whom he was planning to sell it in Pune.
