Young woman dies after plunging from fourth-floor apartment gallery. (File Representational Photo) A young woman recently died after she fell from the gallery of an apartment on the fourth floor of a building in Kirkatwadi on Sinhagad Road in Pune.
The police said the incident took place around 2 pm Sunday when the woman identified as Akansha Gopal Singh, 23, was trying to pick up clothes that fell on the gallery of the apartment on the third floor.
As per the procedure, a case of accidental death was lodged at the Haveli police station of the Pune rural police.
The probe has so far revealed that Akansha was residing in an apartment on the fourth floor of Samarth City, a residential society in Kirkatwadi. Some clothes were hung in the gallery for drying.
A few clothes fell on the gallery of the apartment on the third floor. This apartment was locked. So, Akansha tied a saree on the fourth floor and then holding it, she was trying to move down to the third floor. But her hands slipped and she fell to the ground.
Children playing in the parking area of the building heard the noise and rushed to the spot. Soon, local residents gathered and informed the police control room. A team of Haveli police station reached the place. The police took her to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
