Pune police arrest two for vehicle theft

Acting on a tip-off, a team from Sinhagad police station laid a trap and nabbed the duo in Rejwadi village in Purandar taluka.

THE PUNE city police have arrested two persons in connection with vehicle thefts. Police have recovered spare parts of various vehicles, worth Rs 18 lakh from the duo identified as Sandip Pandurang Memane (23) of Pargaon Memane in Purandar and Somnath Subhash Choudhary (28) of Sahjivan Society in Fursungi.

Acting on a tip-off, a team from Sinhagad police station laid a trap and nabbed the duo in Rejwadi village in Purandar taluka. Police said the duo were involved in 17 vehicle thefts. Police said the duo were stealing four wheelers from different parts of the city. They they used to separate the parts of the vehicles using a cutter and sold the spare parts in the market at low prices, police said. Police said that suspect Choudhary is a history sheeter.
