Pune firm cheats district court twice by supplying fake printer toners; booked

A private company in Pune has been booked for allegedly providing fake printer toners to the district and sessions court in Shivajinagar.

According to the First Information Report (FIR) lodged by a court staffer at the Shivajinagar police station on Thursday, the court had placed an order in July for 30 toners for its laser printers. The company delivered the printer toners of a reputed firm but they were allegedly found to be duplicates.

The toners were returned, following which the company once again supplied 30 toners to the court in September. But these too were found to be fake, the FIR states.

The company has now been booked under Section 318 (1) (cheating) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Senior Police Inspector Chandrashekhar Sawant and Assistant Police Inspector Sanjay Pandhare are investigating the case. No arrests have been made yet, the police said.
