With new rules underlined under the Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan, the district that had carried out several drives to ensure toilet blocks for each family will now have to fulfill fresh guidelines under the programme.
As per the new guidelines,we will have to carry out new assessments. We have asked the ZP and panchayat samiti members to spread the message accordingly, said a Pune Zilla Parishad member.
While 150 panchayat samiti members have been issued showcause notice for not providing the toilet block, the ZP has decided to send proposals to nearly 300 gram panchayats that will ensure total sanitation for rural areas. We have prepared a list of all the villages, said the member.
Under the programme, the state government has provided subsidies under various schemes to construct toilets. As per the fresh norms, every village is expected to provide common toilet facilities at schools and anganwadis. The new programme also encourages village-level segregation of garbage. The administration has also planned to hold meetings of local residents to provide information on garbage management.
Under this new scheme, the village will get points and they can be beneficiaries of various schemes. A survey is being conducted for 13 talukas to chalk out a detailed programme for implementation.
