As Mauritius celebrates Maharashtra and Shivaji Day on May 1,Payalvrunda,a city-based cultural group,will present Maharashtrachi Lokdhara in Mauritius during the May 1-5 cultural festival. The group has been invited by the Mauritius government to present this dance performance.
Mayor Rajlaxmi Bhosale has also been invited for function.
According to Nikita Moghe,choreographer and coordinator of the troupe,the artistes will perform Ganesh Vandana,Maharashtra Geet,Koli dance,Waghya-Murali and Lavani. Well-known Marathi actress Sharvari Jamenis is also a part of the troupe which also includes Ketki Mahajan,Nupur Joshi,Sanskruti Balgude,Ashay Kulkarni,Omkar Rakhunde,Chaitanya Borkar,Mrunmayee Moghe and Samartha Balgude. While Sanjivani Balgude is the costume designer,Sandeep Patil comperes the programme conceptualised by Suneel Mahajan.
The events,organised at places like Maharashtra Bhavan,Indira Gandhi Centre for Indian Culture and Sirangej Community Theatre in Mauritius,are broadcast on national TV channel of Mauritius.
