Police arrest man for cheating

The Viman Tal police station arrested one Ashok T Samant (61) on Monday on charges of cheating and breach of trust. Samant,a resident of Koregaon Park was arrested for accepting Rs 7.5 lakh as bribe in return for a flat to the complainant,Pradeep Shroff (57). However,he never handed over the flat to him and instead sold it to another person.

“Shroff,a resident of Viman Nagar had booked the flat in the name of his wife,Shobha Shroff and made the payment through cheque to Samant. The entire incident took place between 2000-2012. Shroff asked Samant about the matter several times and did not get any response,then finally he lodged a complaint,” said senior police inspector PR Shah.
