After receiving numerous complaints from applicants,the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has extended the date of submission of forms from August 1 to August 3 for the recruitment of probationary officers (POs). This is the first time 19 public sector banks have decided to conduct a Common Written Test (CWT) for PO recruitment.
Also,the date of form purchase by way of bank challans has been extended to August 2 after the IBPS website ran into trouble. Over seven lakh applications were received by IBPS till Saturday evening from across the country.
Due to excessive traffic,the server was jammed and the website was facing technical problems. After getting complaints from applicants about not being able to submit their forms,we decided to extend the purchase and submission dates. The challans can be paid at any of the 19 bank counters till 2 pm on Tuesday and the forms will be accepted on the website till midnight, AK Konar,divisional head,Public Sector Banks,IBPS.
A number of applicants had already bought the bank challans for Rs 450 but were not able to submit the forms online from July 26 onwards.
However,AK Banerjee,chief general manager,Bank of Maharahstra,said,Earlier,the Banking Service Recruitment Board used to conduct the common recruitment tests for a large number of banks together. This has been resumed after a gap of almost 10 years. Back then there were no online system in place,so more co-ordination is needed now.
