PCMC holds draw of lots for 938 flats under PM Awas Yojana

The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) on Saturday conducted a draw of lots for allotting 938 flats under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar held the draw for 568 flats located in Chinchwad’s Mohan Nagar and 370 in Pimpri’s Udyamnagar, at the Prof Ramkrishna More auditorium in Chinchwad.

The houses were initially constructed for people who lost their homes due to the reservation in connection with civic works. However, owing to the poor response, PCMC decided to set them aside for the economically weaker section (EWS), following which the state government approved the project, civic officials said.

Applications were invited for the houses at a fee of Rs 10,000 from June 28 to August 31, 2023 and 11,287 people registered.

BJP MLA Mahesh Landge, who was present at the event, said the Udyamnagar and Mohan Nagar projects are part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Houses for All’ initiative. “In all, 19,000 houses are being constructed in Pimpri-Chinchwad as part of the Prime Minister’s plan. All these houses will be distributed in March at a function attended by the chief minister and deputy chief ministers,” he said.

MLC Uma Khapre and Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh were also present on the occasion.
