One held for youth’s murder

Shinde was not happy with the relationship. On May 11,Shinde and his friends murdered Jadhav at a football ground in Rangehills area and then threw his body in Mula river at Shanti Nagar in Yerawada with the purpose of destroying evidence,police said.

On May 12,Jadhav’s family lodged a missing report with the Khadki police as he did not return home. On May 15,police recovered a body from the river at Shanti Nagar,Yerawada.

During investigation,police found that it was Jadhav’s body. Further interrogation revealed that Jadhav had a quarrel with Shinde a few times before as the later was against his relationship. The Khadki police detained Shinde on suspicion. Police said that during sustained interrogation,Shinde admitted that he and his friends Rupesh Kamble,Sachin Ohal and Vishwas Patil,all residents of Shanti Nagar,assaulted Jadhav causing his death at the football ground in Rangehills on May 11 evening.

They threw his body in riverbed and then Shinde took Jadhav’s motorcycle and parked it near the Parnakuti chowk in Yerawada.

Jadhav’s mother Nanda (45),working as a housemaid in Khadki area,has lodged a police complaint in this case. Police are yet to recover the weapons used for the murder. Police have arrested Shinde on charges of murder,while search has been launched for nabbing his three aides. Police inspector Vilas Gavli is investigating the case.
