The Maharashtra Nursing Federation has decided to go on an indefinite strike from April 26

The Maharashtra Nursing Federation (MNF) has decided to go on an indefinite strike from April 26,if their long-pending demands are not met by the state government. MNF president,Anuradha Athavale,in a press statement issued under the MNF has said that that their long pending demands have not been addressed.

Athavale has called for a meet of all key government nurses representatives from the state for a discussion on March 20 before declaration of the strike. The federation’s key demands include introduction of adequate stock of medicines in hospitals, greater security for nurses, and filling vacant posts of nurses and class IV workers.

Athavale said their repeated demands sent to the state government had fallen on deaf ears. She said the indefinite strike would begin on April 26.

Expressing the federation’s frustrations,Athavale told the media,”The government has refused to call for a meeting or discuss the issues with us. We are now left with no option but to go on an indefinite strike from next month.”
