The first ever textbook of Class XI Physics in Marathi,brought out by Dnyanbhasha Publications,was released in the city on Saturday. Publishers have also announced that they will soon bring out a book for Class XII for Physics and other subjects in Marathi.
The book was released by Pandit Vidyasagar,head,department of Physics,University of Pune at SP College auditorium. Madhav Karve,additional director general of police,crime investigation department (CID) was the chief guest.
The book has been authored by Dilip Bokil,a retired physics instructor with intelligence bureau,and Subhash Phadke,an IIT Delhi alumnus and a Physics expert. Gore said,We have covered every topic prescribed by the state board for Class XI Physics and have also tried to incorporate additional information and interesting facts.
Highlighting the need of Science text books in Marathi for students from rural areas,Vidyasagar said,Books like this would stop alienation of rural students and their parents from science. Many times there are factual errors in Marathi books but this one seems without such faults. More number of such books should come up.
Remembering the language difficulties he faced in his first Physics class,Madhav Karve pointed out that such textbooks in native languages would bring diversity to the subject.
