Rt Rev Thomas Dabre, 77, stepped down as Bishop of Poona on Saturday following an announcement, available on the Vatican website, that Auxiliary Bishop of Bombay John Rodrigues has been appointed as the new Bishop of Poona.

“I had tendered my resignation at 74 but was asked to continue. Now I am happy to step down and govern the Diocese of Poona till the new Bishop takes charge,” Bishop Dabre told The Indian Express.
