Mumbai man held for duping Pune trader

A Mumbai-based man was booked Saturday for allegedly duping a city-based businessman of Rs 4.5 lakh by making a false promise of getting him a contract with former Miss India Vanya Mishra for shooting an advertisement for his plywood company.

A Mumbai-based man was booked Saturday for allegedly duping a city-based businessman of Rs 4.5 lakh by making a false promise of getting him a contract with former Miss India Vanya Mishra for shooting an advertisement for his plywood company.

Police said businessman Mohan Somji Patel (40) of Nirmal Nagar Society had lodged a complaint at Santacruz police station in Mumbai. The case has been transferred to Chatushringi police station in Pune as a deal between Patel and the suspect Jay Chimanlal Desai was struck at J W Marriott on Senapati Bapat Road in April. Desai has been booked under Section 380 and 420 (cheating) of the IPC,police said. Patel lodged a complaint against Desai as he did not make any a contract even after accepting the money. In fact,when he tried to get his money back,Desai has complained of extortion.
