MSEDCL engineer alleges threats from corporator

Ashok Morwal,a junior engineer with the Maharashtra State Electrictiy Distribution Company,has refused to work in Dehu Road area where he has been posted after a local corporator allegedly threatened him with dire consequences

Ashok Morwal (55),a junior engineer with the Maharashtra State Electrictiy Distribution Company,has refused to work in Dehu Road area where he has been posted after a local corporator allegedly threatened him with dire consequences. For last two-three days,he has instead been going to Pradhikaran office of MSEDCL.

Morwal and his team had last week found that the corporator was illegally using power and he had ran up arrears up to Rs 26,000. When contacted,Morwal said,”The corporator told him that he would blacken his face if he was asked to pay up the arrears.”

Morwal said he has conveyed the threats to his life to his seniors and also to the engineers’ union. Last month,a local toughie had threatened Morwal after his power connection was severed forcing him to stay off work. The cantonment area of Dehu Road is notorious for gang wars. After 93 Mumbai blasts,a large number gangsters from Mumbai had shifted base to Dehu Road-Talegaon area.
