Parking will no longer be a problem at Pune Airport now. Soon, the airport would be able to provide room to more four wheelers on its campus as it has developed special parking bays in Lohegaon. However, the authorities are yet to allot a tender to run the parking bay. The parking space has been created just opposite the main gate of the airport. The eastern wing of the parking has already been thrown open for taxis, autorickshaws and pick-up vehicles of the airliners. At present,four-wheelers and two wheelers can enter the airport premises and there is a parking facility for them within the premises. "In addition to the parking facility located within the gates of the airport complex,we have created a space just across the road for four wheelers. While the eastern wing of this parking facility has already come into operation, the other side is yet to be opened for private vehicles. It would be done once our traffic policy is finalised. It would take at least two weeks to be approved," Captain Deepak Shastri,Director of the Airport told The Indian Express. "The outside parking facility will ease the pressure on the airport premises. The new parking bay would bring down the number of vehicles and people standing on the road," he added. Commercial Manager of the Airport,P L Prasanna, said,"The total area of the parking space spreads over 11,000 square meter. While the one side has come into operation, the tender for the second one would soon be handed over to an agency."
