Mini marathon on January 15

‘RUNATHON of Hope 2012’,a mini marathon,will be organised on Sunday,January 15.

‘RUNATHON of Hope 2012’,a mini marathon,will be organised on Sunday,January 15. The objective is to raise funds for welfare of the neglected class of society,said Sudhir Mitra,president,Rotary Club of Nigdi.

The 31-km mini marathon will start from Bhakti Shakti Chowk in Nigdi around 7 am. It will go up to Nashik Phata and return to Bhakti-Shakti Chowk,head to Bhel Chowk,Sambhaji Chowk,then via Bijalinagar flyover up to Valhekarwadi and back to Bhakti-Shakti Chowk.

Students of all age groups,senior citizens,those from industrial sector and private companies can participate. Actor Mrinal Kulkarni will be present on the occasion.

Mitra said this would be the second year of the race. The ‘Runathon of Hope’ organised in February last year had received great enthusiastic response,with around 6,000 persons participating.

Students from private and municipal schools,college students,BEG Khadki,Khadki Ammunition Factory,Railways and companies such as TATA Motors,GKN Sintered,Thermax had also taken part. The funds collected were utilised for implementing various social projects in the village adopted by Rotary Club near Pune,Pimpri-Chinchwad area.
