After receiving information, a team of Hinjewadi police had lodged a case of accidental death and initiated a probe.Four months after an MBA student allegedly died by suicide, Pimpri Chinchwad police Sunday booked her classmate in connection with the incident.
Based on a complaint filed by the father of the woman, who hails from Patna in Bihar, police registered an FIR at the Hinjewadi police station against her classmate under IPC section 306 (abetment to suicide).
Police said the woman was a first year MBA student at a management college in Hinjewadi.
She had reportedly died by hanging herself to the ceiling of her room at the girls hostel of the college in the first week of October 2023.

Police Sub Inspector Tukaram Shelke, the investigation officer of the case, said that before death, the student had left a suicide note in which she had blamed a classmate, with whom she was in a relationship for the last few years.
As per the press release issued Monday, the accused youth is also a native of Bihar.
According to police, the accused started seeing another girl, and he allegedly insulted and thrashed the woman in front of her friends.
As stated in the FIR, the accused had told the victim that it did not matter to him even if she died.
