Mayor’s Cup: Manuja sets up title clash with Sundar

In the other semifinal,top-seeded N Vijay Sundar Prashanth stopped the winning run of Chandranil Sood of UP,with the final scores reading 6-2,6-3.

Manuja,who is now looking to earn a place in the men’s tennis circuit,entered his first AITA event finals in the men’s circuit broke the second-seeded Vignesh in the very first game of the match and then held on his serves to take the first set 6-4.

In the second set Manuja broke in the first,third and fifth games to reach the finals. Top-seeded N Vijay Sundar Prashanth who survived a tough match in the quarterfinals,outplaye Chandranil Sood 6-2,6-3 in a match that lasted for an hour. Prashanth,basically a clay court player,did not give his younger opponent any chance .

In the first set,he broke in the third and fifth games while in the second he secured the break in the sixth game of the match .

It was a bad outing for the Soods as Chandranil along with his twin brother Lakshit crashed out in the doubles event semifinals. Vijay Sunder Prashanth / PC Vignesh the top seeds accounted for Chandranil/ Lakshit Sood 6-4,6-3.

Kunal Anand / SV Abhishek spoilt the doouble crown bid of Ronak Manuja as they accounted for MAnuja and his partner Ajay Selvaraj 6-4,7-6(5) for a place in the finals.
