An evening to remember,is how guests describe Friday evening last week . The golden wedding anniversary celebrations of Rahul and Rupa Bajaj held at their residence in Akurdi,a Pune suburb had a long guest list of around 400 people. They included media bigwigs,political leaders,industrialists and socialites from across the country and abroad. The Bajaj clan,Praful Patel,Sharad Pawar,Arun Jaitley,Sajan Jindal,the Hinduja family,Atul and Sanjay Kirloskar,Cyrus Poonawalla,Puneet and Seema Malhotra,Baba Kalyani,Nalini Gera are among others who attended the elegant soiree. “The weather was perfect and we kept it small – just family and close friends. It was an extra special celebration because we held it in our hometown,” says Bajaj,who is head of Bajaj Group of Companies,a Member of Parliament and chairman,Bajaj Auto Limited. His family put together a lovely 12-minute audio-visual on the couple. “It traced their story,from how they met to their bond with their grandchildren – it was beautifully done,” comments Seema Malhotra,adding,”It was a very,very elegant party.” The food was raved about and the drinks flowed and champagne bottles were popped. A large stage overlooked a dance floor where some shook a leg till the wee hours. The music,as Bajaj describes,was just how he likes it – old hits from the 50s and 60s,a delightful mix of English retro and Bollywood.
