Dehuroad police on Friday found the bodies of a 30-year-old man and his four-year-old son on a football ground in Dehuroad. Police suspect the man to have killed his son and inflicted injuries on himself out of depression of not having a permanent job.
Police have identified the deceased as Reynaldo Manohar Fernandes and his son Royas, residents of Dehuroad. Reynaldo was working as a mechanic in Chinchwad for the past few months. The complaint was registered by Reynaldos wife Roshala.
Ram Jadhav, senior inspector with Dehuroad police, said,Reynaldos wife told us that he was depressed for the past couple of years and used to get angry over petty issues. She told us that he was always frustrated over not having a permanent job.
Roshala said in her statement that on Thursday Reynaldo told her that he was going out for a friends wedding and took Royas with him. As the two did not return till late in the evening, she started calling on his cellphone, which went unanswered.
She later called up her father-in-law Manohar and one more relative Thomas Fernandes. When she called him from Thomas house,Reynaldo answered the call and told her that he had killed their son and was going to kill himself. He did not answer any calls after that, Jadhav said.
Police said the family members searched for them throughout the night. In the morning, around 8 am,when the family came to the Dehuroad police station to register a missing complaint,a person had already informed us about the bodies. The bodies were identified by the relatives, Jadhav said.
The autopsy revealed that Royas was strangulated and Reynaldo died of injuries that we suspect he inflicted on himself.
Police said they would record the statements of Reynaldos father and uncle Thomas. The bodies have been handed over to the relatives. PSI Somnath Jadhav is investigating the case.
