Man gets 10-yr RI for raping minor

Twenty-eight-year old Shyam Kisan Parve was recently awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment for raping a 12-year-old girl in 2006. Parve is a resident of Junnar.

Twenty-eight-year old Shyam Kisan Parve was recently awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment for raping a 12-year-old girl in 2006. Parve is a resident of Junnar.

On September 2,2006,the concerned girl was working in their farm in Ghalewadi village in Junner with her father. At around 6pm,her father asked her to fetch a rope from home. While she was returning to the farm from her home,Parve stopped and took her to another sugarcane farm nearby and raped her.

He also threatened to kill her if she told the incident to anyone. However,the girl narrated the incident to her father and uncle. When they told their village sarpanch about the incident,he advised them to keep mum about it,since it is a matter of the girl’s reputation,said additional public prosecutor Ujjwala Raskar.

However,the girl’s cousin brother took initiative and registered a complaint against Parve in Bhor police station. Raskar examined wight witnesses in the case including the girl herself,her father and the doctor.

After hearing the matter,additional sessions judge V V Joshi awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 fine.
