Man attempts to shoot woman in Baner, booked
Deputy Commissioner of Police Somay Munde said the woman and the accused were in their early twenties and knew each other.

A search was underway for a man in his twenties with a prior criminal record, who allegedly attempted to kill a woman after he fired at her in Baner Friday morning.
The woman, who was also in her twenties, escaped unhurt in the incident and had lodged a first information report (FIR) at Baner police station.
Police said the woman and the accused were residents of Pimpri Chinchwad and were acquainted to each other.
Police said the woman worked as an intern at a private company in Baner and was also pursuing an MBA course. On the day of the incident, shw was about to reach he workplace for her last day of her internship.
Police suspect the man, who had been upset following an altercation between him and the woman, started to follow her after she left home on Friday. He allegedly intercepted her near Ganraj Chowk in Baner around 10:30 am.
He allegedly tried to speak to her, but she refused. So he pointed a pistol at her and pulled the trigger, but the bullets did not fire. As the woman shouted, people around the spot rushed to help. The accused then fled from the spot. After receiving information about the incident, a police team reached the scene of the incident to onvestigate.

Senior police inspector Chandrashekhar Sawant said, “The accused made an attempt to fire bullets at the woman. But the bullets did not fire. Search is on for the accused.”
Police said the accused had earlier been booked in an attempted murder case registered with Pimpri Chinchwad police. A police officer said they have received evidence against the accused from videos captured by CCTV cameras.
