Maharashtra Natural Gas Ltd hikes CNG, PNG prices by Rs 0.75 in Pune, nearby areas
The revised retail price of CNG will be Rs 89.75 per kg, while that of D-PNG will be Rs 50.65 per Standard Cubic Meter.

Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited (MNGL) has increased the prices of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Domestic Piped Natural Gas (D-PNG) by Rs 0.75 per unit in Pune city, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and nearby regions, including Chakan, Talegaon, and Hinjewadi. The new rates will come into effect from April 9 midnight, officials said.
The revised retail price of CNG will be Rs 89.75 per kg as against Rs 89, while that of D-PNG will be Rs 50.65 per Standard Cubic Meter (SCM) as against Rs 49.90.
According to MNGL, the price revision is due to rising input costs. “We have seen an increase in the price of domestic gas from $6.50 to $6.75 per mmbtu, which is a 4% hike,” said a spokesperson for MNGL. Additionally, oil marketing companies have raised their trade margins by 5 per cent, with effect from April 1.
The updated CNG price includes excise duty and State Value Added Tax (VAT), which together account for less than 1 per cent of the total cost. Despite the increase, MNGL has assured consumers that CNG remains an economical and environmentally friendly fuel option in Pune. “Even after the revision, CNG offers savings of up to 45 per cent compared to petrol and over 20 per cent compared to diesel for passenger cars and auto-rickshaws,” the spokesperson added.
The D-PNG price hike of Rs 0.75 per SCM represents a modest increase of 1.5 per cent, which also includes applicable taxes. These revised prices will apply across all MNGL-authorised areas, demonstrating the company’s commitment to providing reliable gas supply while minimising the impact on consumers.
