On Thursday, former NCP corporator Rekha Tingre and her husband Chandrakant Tingre joined the Sharad Pawar-led party.
With just five days left for the Maharashtra Assembly elections, local leaders and former corporators of rival political parties in Pune City and Pimpri-Chinchwad continue to join the NCP (SP) boosting its prospects in the upcoming polls.
In Pune City, the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) is contesting four seats of Vadgaon Sheri, Hadapsar, Khadakwasla and Parvati; and in neighbouring Pimpri-Chinchwad, the party will fight the Maharashtra Assembly election 2024 in Pimpri, Chinchwad, and Bhosari constituencies.
On Thursday, former NCP corporator Rekha Tingre and her husband Chandrakant Tingre joined the Sharad Pawar-led party. “The Tingre couple would strengthen the NCP (SP) in the Dhanori area of the Vadgaon Sheri constituency and increase my prospects in the Assembly elections,” said Bapu Pathare.

The NCP (SP) has fielded former legislator Bapu Pathare, who joined the party from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), against Sunil Tingre of the NCP of Ajit Pawar in the Vadgaon Sheri Assembly constituency. He was an NCP legislator from 2009 to 2014 but later joined the BJP.
Rekha Tingre said Pathare will be elected as a legislator and they will carry out the development of the constituency unitedly.
Former corporator Dilip Tupe from Hadapsar left the BJP and joined the NCP (SP) where the party has fielded Prashant Jagtap against sitting NCP legislator Chetan Tupe. Similarly, Sameer Dhankawade of Dhankawadi in the Khadakwasla Assembly segment joined the NCP (SP). The party has fielded Sachin Dodke against sitting BJP legislator Bhimrao Tapkir in the constituency.
Former BJP corporator Ambernath Kamble from Chinchwad joined the NCP (SP) where Rahul Kalate is contesting against Shankar Jagtap of the BJP. “I have joined the NCP (SP) for the development of the constituency under the guidance of Sharad Pawar,” said Kamble.

Former NCP leader Rambhau Bhokare from Shreevardhan in Raigad also joined the NCP (SP).
The Maharashtra Assembly election will be held on November 20, and the votes will be counted on November 23.
