The Bharatiya Janata Party,(BJP),Shiv Sena (SS) and the Republican Party of India (RPI) — the maha-alliance — have concluded seat sharing talks for 60 of the 76 panels. Nine of the panels will go to RPI.

The parties have also finished discussions with Shiv Sena over 20 panels.

“We should be completing the procedure in two to three days,” said a source from BJP.

Earlier, last month the alliance had agreed to share 93 of the 152 seats after discussing 30 panels. The party wants to be the first to announce the number of seats and candidates for the February 16 elections.

The BJP had asked for the submission of applications by December 15 and said no candidature will be given to those who do not apply.

The party has received 400 applications and interviews will start after the seat sharing is declared. The entire party decision is left to the state unit and the announcement would be made by the state unit president. “There would be no factions ahead of the elections and we approach as one party,” said a party member.

The manifesto, too will be declared on the first day of filing nominations. It was only last month that Mathkari had announced his core committee consisting of 111 office bearers and members.
