The Loyola High School lifted the title at the Sports Authority of India Under-16 Basketball Championship for the second consecutive year,beating hosts St. Vincent’s School by a massive 29-point margin in the finals yesterday.
Loyola went on the attack right at the beginning of the match,and made constant inroads into the St. Vincent’s defense to build up a solid 18-10 lead by halftime,said a press release.
The home team tried to claw their way back into the encounter,but the defending champions kept up the pressure throughout,and kept on increasing their lead to take the game away from their opponents.
National-level player Kunal Patil led the charge for Loyola with 21 points,and was backed up well by his teammates Yash Pardeshi and Aditya Bharadwaj,who netted 15 points and 10 points respectively.
Meghraj Irani’s effort of 14 points went in vain,as did the 6 points contributed by Parth B as the Loyola High School successfully defendedtheir SAI Championship title,the release said.
