The District Election Office has appointed 62 micro-observers for the 70 sensitive polling stations identified for the Khadakwasla by-election on October 13. The election office,which completed the staff training on Monday,has announced 376 polling stations with a total of 452 Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) including 76 extra machines.
We have completed the staff training and will be dispatching the sealed EVMs from Tuesday. There are nearly 2,000 persons who have undergone training for the bypolls, said returning officer Avinash Hathgal.
The office has also made provisions to install cameras at some of the sensitive polling stations.
We will install seven digital cameras and 28 video cameras at some of the sensitive stations, said Hathgal. Of the 376 polling stations,89 fall in the rural areas while the remaining 287 in the city.
Dhankawadi,Warje and Bibwewadi are some of the sensitive polling stations,said deputy returning officer Vijaya Pangarkar. The counting for the elections will take place on October 17 at the Shivajinagar godown.
Pangarkar said all the polling material has arrived and is being dispatched to all the polling stations.
Deputy district election officer Apoorva Wankhede said that if voters have not received their ID cards they can produce alternative identification proof.
