Karnataka Cong MLAs stay put at Amby Valley

Far from the hectic political activity in Bangalore where Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa is preparing for the floor test.

Far from the hectic political activity in Bangalore where Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa is preparing for the floor test,at least 42 Congress MLAs from Karnataka are at Amby Valley resort set up by the Sahara Group in Lonavala,to shield them from any BJP overtures.

A senior Congress leader in Pune confirmed they were in Amby Valley: “Congress MLAs from Karnataka are staying in Amby Valley and not in the city,so we are not aware of the details.” Another Congress leader who revealed he had been entrusted with the travel arrangements said 42 MLAs had been taken to Amby Valley. “They are likely to be stationed there for a few more days,” he said. They were being provided security and nobody had access to them, said the leader. They are getting complete care and are being provided with all facilities,he added. When contacted, officials at Amby Valley refused to comment saying they were not aware of the development. The BJP-led government had plunged into crisis following the withdrawal of 19 MLAs,including BJP rebels.

Congress leaders said,“There is all possibility of the BJP trying to poach Congress legislators to prove their majority….” BJP rebel MLAs and independents who withdrew support had also been heading for Pune but had to change their destination to Goa after a crowd of BJP leaders and workers foiled their plans outside Mumbai airport on Thursday.
