Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange-Patil on Friday said if the government does not provide written assurance about Maratha reservation by December 17, he will not converse with the government anymore.

”If we don’t get a reservation by December 17, if we don’t get the copy of the order, then there will be nothing between us. We will hold a meeting on December 17 at Antarwali-Saraati and decide the future course of action,” the activist told reporters at Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar today.

Jarange-Patil said till December 24, he will not speak to anyone. ”After that, everyone will come to know what the Maratha community is all about. If we don’t get a reservation by December 24, we are ready for the next battle,” he said.

Jarange-Patil questioned the government’s seriousness on the Maratha reservation. “They are delaying the matter. They are refusing to withdraw the cases as promised. Some are being deliberately arrested. The government had said that it will take up the issue of Maratha reservation in the state assembly on December 8, but it has not done so. The government had said they will declare a time-bound programme for Maratha reservation. On this count too, it has failed to keep its word. If the government is going to listen to him (Minister Chhagan Bhujbal), then the government will have to repent,” he said.
