An inspector with the Pune rural police was booked on Thursday on charges of allegedly raping a 31-year-old woman from Nagpur.
The police inspector,identified as AA Pirjade,in charge of the Saswad police station has been charged under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code Section 376 and other Sections of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
Pirjade is yet to be arrested. Kondhwa police registered a case after a communication from Pune rural superintendent of police,who was approached by the victim.
Prasad Hasabnis,a senior inspector in charge of the Kondhwa police station,said,The complainant and the accused knew each other since 2009,when he was posted in Nagpur.
The case was registered with us. We have now transferred the case to the Nagpur police for investigation.
He added,The victim is a lawyer and complained that Pirjade added sedatives in her cold drink and subsequently raped her after she fell unconscious. The complaint says the accused threatened her,abused her and used to insult her. The complainant approached the Pune rural recently after the accused refused to marry her.
