With an aim of giving management lessons to the men-in-khaki,IT major Infosys launched a pilot leadership programme,in association with the Pune police,for senior police officers on the Hinjewadi campus.
Around 40 top-ranking officers of the Pune police took lessons on vision statement,brand building and leadership aimed at improving the image of the police department.
Speaking to The Indian Express,Pune Police Commissioner Satyapal Singh said that the aim of the initiative was to change the image of the Pune police.
Despite the hard work put in by the police,the public still sees them in poor light. This training is the first step in projecting the good work of the department. Also,the training will focus on brand-building, he said.
Singh said that he spent two-hours at the Infosys campus on Friday ahead of the training and interacted with the Infosys management. We have much scope for improvement. Everyone from the top-level police officer to a police constable should take pride in his uniform. This training will also be about communicating to the public more efficiently and in a friendly manner. We will analyse the success of the training and it will be extended in the coming days, he said.
Mritunjay Singh,associate vice-president and head of Pune Development Centre,Infosys Technologies,said that after evaluating the success of the pilot run,a similar leadership training programme would be replicated at the state level. At the state level,IPS officers will be given training. Our senior management executives headed the training programme, he said.
The training consists of three sections defining values,setting isions for self and branding. Through these sessions we are sharing good practice lessons that made our company successful. Various government departments like the police can adopt these practices to improve their efficiency, Singh said.
Aditya Jha,head,corporate marketing,Infosys,who organised the brand-building session said,We provided them tips on how to assess the impact of any project launched by the department and how to make it successful, said Jha.
