A city-based software professional Sourabh Nazarkar has developed an innovative Android phone application that can be used for availing help especially by women and senior citizens in times of trouble just with the shake of a cellphone.

While making a call or sending an SMS requires at least four steps — unlocking the cellphone, opening contact list, searching for specific contact and then making a call or typing a message — consuming several seconds in those critical moments, the Android application facilitates help by just shaking a cellphone three times.

Titled as ‘Shake In Trouble’,the free application is available on Google Play, the digital application distribution platform for Android and an online electronics store developed and maintained by Google.

“After installing the application, users need to configure one emergency contact number. This is the number of the person you want to notify in trouble. The person is in trouble just need to shake the cellphone three times. The application will send a message with the details of user’s current location and one web-link. After opening the link, receiver can even see the exact map of the location,” said Nazarkar.

The 23-year-old,associated with a local software firm as a web-developer,said he devised the ‘Shake In Trouble’ application in such a way that it initiates unlocking cellphone and other processes with just three shakes of cellphone automatically and registers user’s location through mobile’s Global Positioning System (GPS).

“All these processes are completed in five seconds and within 15 seconds specified emergency number gets the message. I feel the application will benefit women and senior citizens,” said Nazarkar,an alumnus of PVG College of Engineering.
