Humanity is supreme, not religion: Rajmohan Gandhi
Addressing students from African countries and staff at SIU, Gandhi said that India is for everyone — for Hindus, Muslims, Jews, Christians — and equality of rights is very crucial.

“Today’s world is in a turbulent state. Supremacy is considered as a respected thing and not equality, loyalty and democracy, this is a disturbing trend worldwide. Equality, humanity, loyalty and democracy — these values should be honored and not disgraced”, said Rajmohan Gandhi, grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, during his visit to Symbiosis International University, Lavale, Pune.
Addressing students from African countries and staff at SIU, Gandhi said that India is for everyone — for Hindus, Muslims, Jews, Christians — and equality of rights is very crucial. He said race and religion are not supreme but humanity was.
“The world has an immense shortage of hospitals and medical facilities. Taking this as an opportunity India can produce more doctors, nurses and allied staff to cater to the needs of the world. Millions of Indians are also suffering from physical and mental health. These medical personnel will be of great help to our country people as well,” Gandhi added.
Speaking at the occasion, founder and president of SIU S B Mujumdar said, “Being a biologist, I can see chromosomes from Mahatma Gandhi and C Rajagopalachari in Rajmohan Gandhi. Today, I can see Mahatma Gandhi present at Symbiosis International University in the form of his grandson and this is indeed a moment of pride for all of us.”
