HSC, SSC exams: Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar reports maximum cases of malpractice

The HSC exam began on February 11 and will go on till March 11. The SSC exam began on February 21 and will conclude on March 17.

As the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and Secondary School Certificate (SSC) board examinations are underway, 265 and 34 cases of malpractice have been recorded in the exams respectively till March 4.

The HSC exam began on February 11 and will go on till March 11. The SSC exam began on February 21 and will conclude on March 17.

Out of the 265 cases recorded in HSC exams, 139 were recorded in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar division alone. This was followed by the Pune division with 35 cases, Latur (30), Nagpur (25), and Nashik (11). Mumbai, Kolhapur and Amravati recorded seven cases of malpractices each while Konkan division reported four cases.

In the SSC exams, 18 cases were recorded in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar division,  followed by eight in Pune, five in Latur, and three in Nagpur. Meanwhile Mumbai, Kolhapur, Amravati, Nashik, and Konkan divisions recorded no cases.

Before the examination, the state government launched a campaign promoting “copy-free examinations”. Officials have been instructed to strictly enforce the Maharashtra Prevention Of Malpractices At University, Board And Other Specified Examinations Act, 1982.

The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education also announced that exam centres identified as sensitive zones will be monitored by drones. If malpractice is detected, centres will lose their recognition.

Over 16 lakh students are appearing for the Secondary School Certificate Class 10 examinations while over 15 lakh students from across the state are appearing for the Higher Secondary Certificate Class 12 exams.
