Surabhi Nag Art Festival hopes to give artists a meaningful platform and a helping hand in their endeavours
Brushes,fearless strokes,freedom of ideas and bold sketches,the world of colurs and paints in fact has more than what meets the eye. While Aamir Khan,in his movie Taare Zameen Par romanticised paintings and their world,he also showed that an artists expertise and excellence is immeasurable. But a gnawing problem that lot of artists face today is the inability to even find a platform to showcase their work; this apart from the constant cost of material,space and canvass.
Being conducted in association with Ishanya,particularly director Parul Mehta,the festival aims to promote art in Pune as a gesture of gratitude to the city. Milon K Nag,director,K K Nag Foundation,says,My mother Surabhi Nag was deeply committed to the cause of art. We are starting this festival by keeping the spirit in which my late mother would organise it. No fees or commissions are being charged and every penny earned will go back to the artists. The festival will continue for three days,with the first day comprising of Art Platform,a selection of emerging artists from all over Maharashtra,followed by a unique Fashion Show called Art Style,where models will walk the ramp as famous sculptures and Art Affaire,which will bring to Pune a stunning collection of great art from great artists.
Also,December 6 will have live demonstrations and an interactive session with Santosh More and an Art Fusion where artists Falguni Gokhale,Manjiri More,Ketaki Pimpalkhare,Milind Mulick and Vinayak Rampure will paint to a symphony composed and played live by some of Punes finest musicians. Apart from this,the winning artist in the exhibition will be given a scholarship and one-year mentorship under a senior artist. With brushes and coloured thoughts,the Surabhi Nag art festival,no doubt shall provide art a much-needed platform and a helping hand.
