Nritya Prerana – International School of Bharatnatyam will conduct the ‘Nritya for Body and Soul’ dance programme on December 3. This free demonstration will be held at 88,Mitra Mandal Colony,Parvati. Suchitra Date has developed nritya exercises for various illnesses like equinos deformity (walking on toes),polio,learning difficulties,Parkinsons,stressed and depressed groups. “We realised that these dances help keep the body healthy,” said Date. A group of 130 students will participate in the programme. “Kaouru,a Japanese student,will also put up a Bharatnatyam performance on the famous Japanese song Momotaro,the hunter,” she added.

Awareness about Alzheimer’s

The 16th national conference on “Alzheimer’s and Dementia Related Diseases – Emerging Challenges” was recently organised by International Longevity Centre India (ILCI) Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders Society of India (ARDSI)-Pune chapter. It functions under the aegis of Chaitanya Mental Healthcare Centre-Pune. The conference was inaugurated by S B Mujumdar,Director,Symbiosis. The objective was to create awareness of the alarming rate at which mental disorders like Alzheimer’s and Dementia are growing globally and more so in India.

Conference on hormonal disorders

President Pratibha Patil will inaugurate the 41st national conference of the Endocrine Society of India on December 1. The three-day conference will deliberate on the latest advances in the field of hormone disorders. “Around 600 specialists will attend the conference,which will also mark the beginning of the Pune Endocrine and Diabetes Group,” says Col (Dr ) Narendra Kotwal,organising secretary of the conference.
