Eye donation drive held
An eye donation was carried out by Southern Command Composite Signal Regiment on the occasion of World Disability Day as part of its 44th Raising Day celebrations and Signals’ Centenary Year celebrations. The eye donation pledging camp was organised to spread awareness about eye related diseases and to emphase on the importance of eye donation. A total of 250 unit combatants,their families and children pledged their eyes on the occasion.
Health awareness drive at marathon
In order to spread the awareness about Overall Fitness and serious disorders like obesity, hypertension,diabetes and so on,that cripple the lives of millions,Ruby Hall Clinic,Dream Slim Club and Laparo Obese Centre participated in the 25th International Marathon in Pune on Sunday. Obesity Consultant and Director of the Centre,Dr Jayashree Todkar led the group of around 50 people,comprising doctors from Ruby Hall Clinic and various patients,who participated in the International Marathon.
A cosmetic surgery,unlike other surgeries,is a work of art. It changes one or many aspects of the anatomy that may have spiralling effects on it. Hence,it is critical to regulate the amount of anaesthesia that is administered accordingly else the patient is at risk of slipping into coma or even dying during the process. This pivotal function is the responsibility of the anaesthesiologist without whose expertise the cosmetic surgery will be a total disaster. Throwing some light over the criticality of the function,renowned anaesthesiologist Dr Anil Sant says,While the patient is being operated upon,it is our job as anaesthesiologists to ensure that his/her condition is continuously monitored to ensure a smooth operation. Hence it requires an alert mind that is fast at computing the dynamics of the human body.
City doctor given national award
Dr Prasad Rajhans was awarded the 1st Lifeline Foundation-AAEMI [American Academy of Emergency Medicine,India award in the individual category for work done in the development of Emergency Medical Services [EMS in India. The award was given to him at the hands of principal secretary,Government of Gujarat,and the president of AAEMI at awards ceremony held recently at Ahmedabad.
New casts to be used
Inamdar Hospital at Fatimanagar has decided to use HM Cast which is superior to the conventional and fibre cast,says Dr Parvez Inamdar,managing director of the hospital. HM Cast is water proof and is made of specially woven fabric mesh,which allows air circulation and does not cause itching.
