For him the most fundamental criteria to become a dancer is the presence of a smile, the rest,he says are its repercussions. Bollywood masala choreographer Ganesh Acharya has several of those fashionable actions to his credit and now,he brings them to the aspirants,by announcing the launch of his dancing academy in the city.
The academy in Koregaon park will commence next week and conduct courses of one month, three months and six months duration. My classes will concentrate on Bolywood Masala, which is a mix of Indian and Western dances like salsa, hip hop,cha-cha-cha and so on. We coach in every style, starting from the exercises that are needed to get a hand over them and move on with the contemporary approach. For instance, these days hiphop style dominates our songs just the way it has gained popularity through Bhool Bhulaiyaas Hare Krishna Hare Ram. The workshops will grant the applicants a graceful entry into Bollywood, he adds.
Having directed a couple of films Acharya is now working on his third film along with choreographing a unique project on which he says,Along with Mani Ratnams Ravana I have also done four songs for the film Shadow which has actor Nasir Khan who is visually challenged and is also the producer of the film. It was a challenging project,he has spent around nine crores on those songs, you will see the shots soon. While Govinda remains his favorite actor to choreograph, the music director directs the actions for him. Whenever Govinda dances you can see the lyrics on his face and through his movements. I havent seen an actor who can wear a wig,tie a pony and still flaunt heroism(Saajan Chale Sasural). However the music director is an important decider because the choreography is hidden in his music. When I close my eyes and listen to the music I see the steps come alive, he adds.
