Happy Meal

Apart from a scrumptious spread of food, this brunch offers guests a lot of fun to make for a super Sunday

Toys lay scattered all over the hallway in front of Kangan,Westin’s Indian cuisine restaurant. Sitting in front of the restaurant,a little girl was busy making a make-believe meal with play dough. Some distance away, children were playing with a toy train. It was clearly no ordinary day at the hotel — it was the Bubbalicious Brunch Sunday. A weekly event at the hotel, the brunch is an interesting mix of fun, frolic and food. While kids enjoy themselves with a range of toys, board games and an animated film projected, art enthusiasts can either indulge in painting on a huge canvas or view art works displayed by students of FAD International. When the motley group is hungry, they can head to any of the two restaurants,Prego or Seasonal Tastes to get some grub.

Seasonal Tastes has a mixed spread of Indian and oriental cuisine. One starts with the salads and heads on to biryanis, curries, rice preparations and breads. The Oriental section has more to offer — rice, noodles and a range of freshly-rolled sushi.

The area in front of the restaurant is turned into a “chaat street” where one can explore a variety of Asian and European street food. The perfect dish for meat lovers is an Italian risotto-like preparation with a mix of meats such as prawns, lobster, chicken sausages, mutton, beef and pork. Pani puris seem to be a favourite here, followed by a soft Gujarati preparation called khandvi.

The spread at Prego is entirely Italian, and mostly non-vegetarian. One must start with the traditional crackers and cheese. Next up is a helping from a range of cold cuts. Gnocchi and raviolis can be prepared as per one’s preference of sauce. This section also features seafood options. “In the West, the concept of Bubbalicious Brunch is about having a nice time with friends and family over a hearty meal and some bubbly wine. However, the trend of wine at bunches is yet to catch up in India. We aim to provide a fun time for the entire family,so we have a kids section,an art section along with the two restaurants that serve only buffet brunch,” says Devesh Rawat,Director – Food & Beverage,Westin.

Guests can easily switch between restaurants. “After having starters at Prego, you can go over to Seasonal Tastes for main course and go back to Prego for desserts. We have no restrictions,” says Rawat. The dessert section at Seasonal Tastes has special options for kids, including chocolate swirl lollipops, cotton candy, chocolate rocks and a range of cookies. The team comes up with innovative desserts every week, like Gulkand Cheesecake and Chocolate-dipped gulab jamun, among others.
