Indiaart and Art India Foundation have come together to organise the Art Fest,that opened on May 30,with a cycle ride to the Empress Garden...

* Indiaart and Art India Foundation have come together to organise the Art Fest,that opened on May 30,with a cycle ride to the Empress Garden,where more than 50 artists painted works depicting their view of an environmental tragedy or a greener tomorrow. These paintings,in celebration of World Environment Day,shall be displayed at the Empress Garden on June 5 and 6 from 10 am to 6 pm.

* The Empress Garden Mitra Parivar in association with the Nisarg Samvad have organized a program along the theme -Biodiversity: Ecosystems Management and the Green Economy for the occasion. The programme consists of an introduction of trees,by Sachin Punekar,which will be held from 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm. And a speech by well-known Botanist Hema Sane.

* Kumar Urban Developers Limited (KUL) has organised an event Doubling the Green Initiative on the occasion of World Environmental Day on June 5. An environmental play Future Shock will be enacted that shall take place at the KUL Utsav project site,Kondhra Budruk,4.30 pm onwards,on June 5.

* Amanora Park Town,in association with Association for Learning Education Research and Training (ALERT) is celebrating the day through an event planned at Temple of Environment. The event,which the city’s top industrialists,builders and hoteliers are supposed to visit,will have activities like street rallies,tree planting,bicycle parades and pixel painting.

* Communications of Pune has organised a cycle rally that will start at 7.30 am from SP College Grounds,and will finish at Corinthians Boutique Hotel at 9.00 am for breakfast and ceremonies.

* The Little Italy chain of restaurants has come up with a novel way to celebrate World Environment Day. From June 5 to 7,the restaurant chain will give every costumer a set of basil seeds,in order to encourage the costumer to grow it at home. Each packet of seeds, will also contain an instruction booklet on how to grow and harvest this plant at home. Basil,a plant native to both India and Italy,is well known for its medicinal qualities.

* The Social Forestry Department is organising World Environmental Day celebrations at the Gliding Center,Hadapsar. Present will be Perin Fitter,popularly known as Mama Neem,who will enlighten the participants on the Neem awareness programme in Kenya. Activities include neem tree planting,displays and speeches.

* Discovery Channel will have a dedicated line-up of shows on June 5 starting from 12 noon and going on till midnight. Some of the shows which will be telecast includes One Water,where the ways water has affected humanity across the world will be presented.
