Govt officers should declare assets every year: Anna Hazare

Veteran social worker Anna Hazare stressed the importance of making it mandatory for government officers to declare their assets every year.

Veteran social worker Anna Hazare stressed the importance of making it mandatory for government officers to declare their assets every year. He said that all the power and laws have been concentrated in the Mantralaya and unless they are decentralised, corruption cannot be curbed.

Speaking on the Belgaum issue,Hazare said that the common man must take to the roads. Politicians sitting in air-conditioned cars do not feel the brunt of problems.

Hazare was speaking at the release of the book ‘Bhrashtacharachi Mule’ (roots of corruption) written by senior advocate G N More on Tuesday. Hazare said that frauds in cooperative societies have ruined the poor. “I have placed the demand to compel all government officers to declare their wealth annually. I have decided to build public opinion in this matter,” Hazare said. Unless power is in the hands of the common man, corruption will not be curbed.
