City Congress MLA Balasaheb Shivarkar on Friday admitted that despite the Congress being at the helm of affairs at the Pune Municipal Corporation (MC) for so many years, the issue of Urali Devachi-Phursungi garbage depot remained unresolved.
He was speaking to reporters at PMC headquarters. He however said that soon some kind of breakthrough would come up.
He said,”I had raised the issue of garbage depot almost three years back. I had suggested creation of four garbage depots at the four corners of the city. However, the erstwhile civic commissioners including Nitin Kareer and Praveensinh Pardeshi had not paid enough attention to this matter and had failed to pursue the matter in an efficient way, despite my efforts time and again.”
He said,”Even though the Congress was ruling in Pune, our party could not resolve the issue till now. It is our failure. But now,I have again decided to take up the matter and I am hopeful that some kind of solution will come up very soon,”
On Friday,Shivarkar also went to meet Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar at Shewalwadi.
