A free check-up camp for gum diseases has been organised by the department of periodontology and implantology at M A Rangoonwala College of Dental Sciences and Research Centre,Camp. It will be held from June 1 to 5 from 8.30 am to 3.00 pm.
The patients who will enrol during this week can avail of concessional rates on treatment.
The camp will be inaugurated by Anant Shinde,additional commissioner,Pune Police. Periodontitis is the infection of gums which is caused by accumulation of plaque and tarter on teeth. It is the second most common dental disease after dental caries.
But periodontitis often goes unnoticed since there is minimal pain associated with it. If symptoms like bleeding gums,swollen gums,bad breath,and loose teeth are noticed then gum diseases can be suspected. If untreated it leads to early bone and tooth loss,stated a press release.
The purpose of this initiative is to create awareness about gum diseases and oral hygiene practices in the community,the release stated.
